The Wausau School District is adopting the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework to create positive learning climates in all our schools.  PBIS is a way of clearly stating behavioral expectations and acknowledging when students meet those expectations.  We have a PBIS core team who has worked to develop how this will look in our school. 

Our school’s core values use the acronym PRIDE:


The school expectations are as follows:

  • EEA students and staff will be prepared for all planned activities.
  • EEA students and staff will treat other people and their belongings, school property and themselves with respect. 
  • EEA students and staff will show integrity by doing what is right no matter who is watching.
  • EEA students and staff will show determination by not giving up when things get tough.
  • EEA students and staff will demonstrate excellence by giving their best effort in all tasks and settings.

The PBIS work is linked clearly to the school goals.  They are as follows:

  • 75% of EEA students will average a daily completion rate of 6 graded assignments or more.
  • 75% of EEA students will meet or exceed MAP expected growth rates in Reading, Math, and Language Usage.
  • EEA will achieve a 90% average daily attendance rate.

Students are taught the specifics of these expectations (how it looks) upon enrolling.  Students are retaught as necessary based on school data.  When students do not meet these expectations, they are conferenced with.  These conferences are an opportunity for re-teaching and helping the student see what behavior is necessary in the situation.
